Office Assistant

Office Assistants provide administrative support for all areas of the Office of Pryzbyla Management. With primary responsibilities in the reception area, office assistants also perform administrative duties, such as data entry, confidential filing and typing. Office assistants also maintain and regularly update information on activities, events and services on and off campus; and assist in making this information available to students. Occasionally, office assistants may also support campus-wide events and update office websites.

Responsibilities

Office Assistant has the following responsibilities:

  • Assist in the CPM reception area, answering the telephone, responding to caller questions, transferring calls and taking accurate messages as necessary
  • Perform administrative duties such as creating data bases, data entry, confidential filing and typing
  • Maintain and regularly update information on activities, events, and services on and off campus
  • Assist in updating and posting of information while working to ensure event information is posted accurately and properly
  • Help update and maintain posting areas in the Pryzbyla Center and campus public spaces
  • Assist in the development of resources as directed by CPM
  • Work independently on special or ongoing projects as assigned by CPM staff
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Help monitor the use of student organization work areas and supplies
  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings, workshops and training sessions
  • Participate in annual activities of the Pryzbyla Center and The Catholic University of America including but not limited to orientation, homecoming, and commencement
  • Follow policies and procedures as found in the CPM Student Staff Handbook and policies of The Catholic University of America
  • Represent the Office of Pryzbyla Management to clients, the CUA community, customers and visitors to CUA
  • Perform other duties as assigned by CPM staff

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working or volunteering in an office, retail establishment, CUA student organization position or similar environment
  • The ability to learn and use various software packages on Windows-based computers
  • Knowledge of the campus and its activities
  • Accurate proof-reading skills, highly developed organizational skills, proven ability to stay on task and follow through on assignments
  • Reliable and dependable, friendly, patient and courteous manner
  • Knowledge of the campus and its activities
  • Highly motivated, self directed, responsible, mature and flexible
  • Desire and ability to work with diverse populations
  • Understanding and use of email
  • A positive work attitude and ethic

Physical Requirements

Must be able to type, sit and/or stand for periods of time. Must possess manual dexterity.

Reporting

This position reports to the Administrative Assistant.

Additional Requirements

Must maintain at minimum a 2.0 cumulative GPA during the term of employment.

Starting Salary

$8.25
